For the first time in our city, running and cleaning were combined within the framework of Zhytomyr EcoFest. This format of running is called plugging and its essence is that during the run runners collect all the garbage on their way. The team of Zhytomyr Cardboard Plant joined this initiative.

“ZhKK constantly participates in general sports events of the city, we are very team, we are engaged in dragonboats and we also ran a space half marathon. Today the event is special for us, because it’s not just about running, it’s not just about sports competitions, it’s also about ecology, because housing and communal services are basically about ecology, ecological products. It was very important for us to join the event, because here running is combined with cleaning and we could not stay away. If we can’t get together as a team and take part physically, we try to help such events financially, ”says Anna Igunova, an employee of the Zhytomyr Cardboard Plant.

The organizers say they came up with this type of training a few years ago in Sweden. It is already quite popular in Europe, but new for many Ukrainians.

“It was more aimed at corporate companies, that is, employees just ran out during their lunch break to clean up their area. I think this is a great tradition and we also need to borrow it. We run along the Teteriv River to the Glory Monument, where we have one of the photo points, because we will have photo points along the entire route, and we finish near the Chatsky Head, ”says plowing curator Anna Abdulova.

The event was supported by the Zhytomyr Cardboard Plant on the initiative of First Deputy General Director Vadym Liska, who also runs and supports sports initiatives. The festival aims to draw the attention of Zhytomyr residents to environmental pollution, so that each of us was environmentally responsible.

“In general, within the framework of Zhytomyr Ecofest we will have two activities – an environmental festival for teenagers, we have 12 teams registered and we will also have an eco-town in the park on Lyatoshynskyi. The eco-town is also attended by companies that are environmentally responsible, in particular, “Zhytomyr Cardboard Plant”, higher education institutions and folk craftsmen who are engaged in the manufacture of things. It should be interesting, ”says festival organizer Zhanna Solovyova.

Representatives of the Zhytomyr Cardboard Plant add: there should be more such events in the city, and the company is ready to support eco-initiatives of Zhytomyr residents and local organizations.
